The lottery for the NYC Marathon opened up today and it’s real guys, I’M IN!
Through New York Road Runners, I was able to participate in 9 races (I think I ended up doing a total of 15 races) and volunteered at 1 race in order to guarantee my entry. I signed into NYRR.org like usual and was greeted with this message:
I’m beyond excited. Of course, after submitting my entry and paying the fee, I immediately began to panic. 26 miles is a LOT of miles…I could barely make it to my friend’s apartment that is a fourth floor walk-up just this past Saturday. Thankfully I have 292 days to train.
Even though I have the guaranteed entry already, I have decided that I will be running with Fred’s Team. Funds raised through Fred’s Team directly benefit cancer research at Memorial Sloan Kettering. I can’t think of a better way to enter the “marathon-world” other than running for a good cause. I had been brainstorming other causes I could fundraise for since the Avon 39 Walk to End Breast Cancer ended and now all the pieces are coming together.
Guys, it’s so real! I am so happy to have my group training starting back up tomorrow – I think it’s about time I stocked up on some real winter running gear and some solid shoes.
November 4th, I’m coming for ya!
SO exciting!! Congrats and good luck!!
